Christo has a love of classically sophisticated suits. They are well cut, modern and stylish in a way that the New York City fashion elite prefer. This is why Christo loves commissioning his suits from The Tailory, an appointment only New York City fashion house, founded by talented, young designer Shao Yang.

The Tailory makes a stunning suit, no question, but what was truly newsworthy about their show last night at the Brooklyn Museum was the message that was promoted. Last night The Tailory was one of six designers being presented on the runway alongside Sir New York, We Are Mortals, Stuzo Clothing, Angie Chuang and Sharpe Suiting for DapperQ’s I-D fashion event.

Last night’s event featured models, designers and celebrities who identify outside of the strictly regimented gender norm. The show celebrated those who have created a unique gender identity for themselves and are not ashamed to speak out about it. On the runway, men dressed as women, women dressed as men, a model walked with crutches and a female model bared her breasts for all the world to see and flipped off anyone who would tell her to do otherwise. This is the future of fashion, this is the revolution.

We here at Curlisto were so proud to be associated with such a movement. Backstage Christo styled the hair of the Tailory’s diverse cast as well as their brilliant designer. Among the products used were Curlisto Control II Gel, Finishing Spray, Glow & Shine, and Curl Reform. Alongside the usual Curlisto line, Christo used his Christo NYC Men’s line which included a Hydrating Paste and a Styling Gel.

Here at Curlisto we love to celebrate different kinds of beauty, self confidence in one’s own unique style and the confidence and creativity to raise your voice for the cause you believe in. We look forward to working on such important and diverse projects in the future. Happy Fashion Week!
