Congratulations to Plaza Salon New Jersey, Strut California and Chrome Massachusetts on their new Curlisto Certification! Our favorite thing here at Christo Fifth is passing on new knowledge to talented stylists all over the world. I had the opportunity to model for Christo and experience his world famous Diamtrix cutting technique first hand. I, along with the stylists in attendance learned a lot from Christo’s curly hair expertise and the best part of the day? For the first time in years, I received a salon haircut that I was happy with.
The class begins with a basic consultation. Christo has me fill out a form asking questions ranging from the amount of time that I generally tend to spend styling my hair (10 minutes- I am lazy) to what I like to do for fun. To make sure that the client gets exactly what they want, you must first speak to them, get to know them and their lifestyle. The consultation isn’t about selling a product, it’s about gathering knowledge about the client’s history with their own head of curly hair.
Christo demonstrates for the stylists in attendance why the Diametrix cut works specifically for curly hair clients and exactly how to go about practicing it. As you may know if you are familiar with Curlisto products, the Diametrix cut is a technique that features the sliding inner layer texturizing cut which reduces bulkiness and avoids the dreaded pyramid shape so synonymous with curly hair. My goal was to not lose any of my precious length, and for once I had a stylist working on me who not only listened but managed his goal with fantastic results! After the cut, Christo demonstrated the correct usage of Curlisto products that finished the look. The stylists in attendance were able to practice on in salon models and I was left feeling that I could trust my curls again.
Christo is not only talented at what he does but an excellent teacher. Patiently answering questions, knowledgable about the science behind hair care and demonstrating a confident but charming showmanship throughout the class.
