I’ve had my fair share of bad haircuts. In fact, as I have said, I have endured so many bad haircuts that I was at the point where I really didn’t ever want to set foot in a salon again. Let me tell you, as a former salon skeptic that there is something very different about the Curlisto Diametrix Cutting Technique. If you are not familiar with the Diametrix technique, essentially it is a process that reduces bulkiness and interlocks the curls so that they frame the face in a way that is light, flattering and completely natural.

I never used to think too much about why my other haircuts were so bad, I mostly just assumed that with curly hair it was impossible to leave a salon with a happy, healthy head of hair. Since experiencing Curlisto, this is what I have learned often trips up stylists when they are faced with curly haired clients. So next time you visit a salon, watch out for these common mistakes.

  1. If You Have Curly Hair, Look For A Cut That Shapes Rather Than Thins: What makes the Curlisto Diametrix Cutting Technique  so revolutionary is that it is specifically designed to maximize and compliment each client’s face shape and personal style. Diametrix is one of the few approaches to curly hair that can be applied to any curl type, ranging from kinky to wavy.
  2. Make Sure The Stylist Cuts It Wet: We know that there are blogs all over the internet that contradict this advice but hear us out. If the stylist knows how to cut curly hair, it doesn’t matter whether the hair is wet, dry, damp or otherwise. Getting your hair cut dry hurts. Someone who is educated in the art of cutting curls already knows about the shrinkage that occurs once curly hair is fully dry.
  3. Avoid Touching Your Curls: Once you are done styling your hair, you are done. No running your fingers through it, no unnecessary scrunching. This will only cause breakage and frizziness. So any stylist who advises you to fluff up your hair post treatment probably has no idea what they’re talking about.
  4. Avoid Using Products With Chemical Additives: When you read the ingredients on your average bottle of styling product, you mostly expect that you will not understand what half of those words mean. However, this isn’t something you should just accept. What those chemical additives do is cause build up in your hair which leads to poor scalp health and causes hair repair and growth to slow to a crawl. Our Curlisto products use only all natural, vegan ingredients and are not tested on animals. If your hair is still suffering damage from previous chemical exposure, try our Curlisto Deep Therapy Masque.
  5. Make Sure You And Your Stylist Are Communicating: We speak in depth with each of our clients before we get to work cutting and styling their curly hair. A client’s lifestyle is important when you are deciding what best to recommend for their prolonged hair health. However, this communication goes both ways. If you aren’t happy with something your stylist is doing, let them know! By having a healthy line of communication, you can make sure that you are getting the beautiful cut you are looking for.
